Instructions
Controls:
SPACEBAR: Shoots lasers.
SHIFT: Thrust in the currently viewed direction.
WASD and ARROW KEYS: Changes the viewing direction.
Z: Decelerate based on current velocity vector until speed is 0.
X: Reverse thrust based on viewing direction.
P and ESC: Toggle pausing the game. pausing brings up the main menu.
Game mechanics:
POINTS: Earn points by shooting asteroids and aliens. Large asteroids give 1 point, medium give 2 points, small give 5 points, and aliens give 25 points.
DEATH: You start with 5 shield points. You lose shield points by crashing into asteroids or aliens. Once you have no shield points left and you crash, it's game over.
BUMPING: When you bump an asteroid or alien, your velocity vectors and mass are used to calculate new velocity vectors, so you can effectively bump asteroids and aliens.
MOVEMENT: We tried to make the movement realistic for space so that when you have reached a certain velocity through acceleration, the velocity persists. When accelerating in a new direction the new velocity vector is calculated based on the previous vector. Also, based on this goal, there is no speed limit. When you move through one of the 6 faces of the cube wireframe, you are teleported to the opposite side of the cube.
